Chabad of Washington Heights

In 2005, Rabbi Yakov and Elisheva Kirschenbaum opened the first Chabad House in Washington Heights. Today, Chabad is active in community engagement with an open shul, a Jewish preschool, adult education classes, and holiday celebrations.
Chabad accomplishments
- Opened Beis Levi Yitzchak, a gathering place for farbrengens and events
- Offer weekly classes in a range of topics for adults
- Opened Osher Early Learning Center, preschool and community for Jewish children and their families
- Host weekly communal kiddush after davening
- Host monthly communal Friday night meals
- Host yom tov meals and services
- Visit the sick and the elderly at the local hospital and rehabilitation home
- Provide holiday services such as shofar, megilla and mishloach manot and matza for the sick and homebound
- Welcomed a new sefer torah to our shul
